For a lot of Northern Virginia and DC-metro families, the thing standing between their dog and a great boarding stay isn't the facility — it's the drive. A pet taxi is the answer to that specific problem: someone else handles the trip, both ways, in a vehicle set up for exactly that. Here's what it actually involves.
Who tends to book it
- Owners without the time to drop off and pick up around a workday
- Households without a vehicle set up for a nervous or large dog
- Families further out — Arlington, McLean, Great Falls, Bethesda, Potomac, DC — where the round trip eats a chunk of the day
- Anyone who'd simply rather hand the logistics to someone else
What actually happens, step by step
It starts with booking ahead — you give us the address and the times that work, and we build the pickup around your schedule rather than the other way round. On the day, a pet-only vehicle arrives at your door, and your dog or cat travels to our Nokesville campus with the same careful handling we'd want for our own. The return trip works the same way in reverse.
It's a taxi for pets, not a rideshare with a crate in the back
The vehicles are set up only for transporting pets — nothing shared with a general rideshare booking, no other passengers, no last-minute surprises about whether a dog is even welcome. That matters most for a dog who finds new cars stressful to begin with.
Does it actually save time, or just cost more?
Honestly, it depends on the drive. If you're in Nokesville, Bristow or Manassas, driving yourself is usually simpler — it's a short trip either way. The taxi earns its keep once the drive gets long enough that fitting two of them around a workday becomes the real obstacle, which is exactly why it's become the default for a lot of our families coming from further across Northern Virginia, DC and the Maryland suburbs.
Curious whether it makes sense for your schedule? Read more about our pet taxi, see how it fits boarding for Arlington families, or send us your address and dates and we'll tell you honestly whether it's worth it.
