There's a version of a travel day where the dog is one more moving part: a neighbor with a key, a sitter who might cancel, a 5 a.m. text you hope gets answered. And there's a version where you drop your dog somewhere they love on the way to the airport and stop thinking about it until you land back at Dulles. This is a guide to the second version.
The geography works in your favor
Our campus sits in Nokesville, on the countryside end of the VA-28 corridor that runs straight up to Dulles. If you live anywhere along it — Manassas, Gainesville, Chantilly, Herndon, Ashburn — dropping your dog with us adds one easy stop to the airport run instead of a separate errand across town.
Timing a drop-off around a flight
- Morning flights: drop off the evening before. Your dog settles overnight and your 6 a.m. departure involves no animals.
- Afternoon flights: a same-morning drop-off works — arrive unhurried, keep the goodbye short.
- Landings: we're open Monday–Saturday 9–7; for a late arrival, collect the next morning and come with coffee. A rested pickup beats a frantic one.
When the pet taxi is the smarter move
Red-eye departure? Family of five plus luggage? Coming from the far side of the Beltway? Our pet-only taxi collects your dog from your door and returns them after you land — the boarding equivalent of airport pickup. It's how most of our McLean, Arlington and Maryland families use us.
What travel-week boarding should include
