There's no single right answer — the best choice depends on your dog's temperament and your peace of mind. Here's how the two compare.
When a pet sitter shines
For some dogs, staying in their own home with a familiar routine is ideal — especially very anxious dogs or those with complex medical needs. The trade-off is less supervision: a sitter isn't there 24/7, and there's no backup if something goes wrong.
When boarding is the better fit
A good spacious-suite facility offers something home alone can't: constant supervision, company, structured play and staff on hand around the clock. Sociable dogs often thrive on it, and you get updates and camera monitoring for reassurance.
Questions to ask either way
- Who is with my dog overnight, and how often?
- What happens in an emergency?
- Is the environment calm and appropriate for my dog?
- Will I get updates while I'm away?
